What version is my PDF?
Each time Adobe comes out with a new set of features for the PDF format they give that edition it's own version number.
PDF Version 1.4 is the most complete version available today with Version 1.5 and 1.6 containing additional features not needed by 95% of us.
ViralPDF works with PDFs created in Version 1.4 and here is how you can find out what version your PDF eBook is..
How to Find your PDF Version in 3 easy Steps:
| 1. |
Open your PDF in Acrobat Reader |
| 2. |
From the File Menu click 'Document Properties...' |
| 3. |
You will see a Dialog Box (see image below) that tells you what PDF version your PDF eBook is. |

What if my PDF eBook is not PDF version1.4?
No problem, ViralPDF has additional inbuilt checking for PDFs that were created in other versions and made compatible with PDF 1.4.
To make your PDF eBook compatible with the PDF 1.4 format, follow these steps below:
This can be done in 4 Steps:
| 1. |
Open your PDF in Acrobat Professional |
| 2. |
From the 'Advanced' menu select 'PDF Optimizer' |
| 3. |
Select 'Acrobat 5.0 and later' from the 'Make compatible with' drop-down box. |
| 4. |
Click Ok, then Save your PDF. |
What if I don't have Acrobat Professional?
In this case you will need to check the settings of your PDF creator software. Usually if when software creates PDFs in a version higher than 1.4 they also usually give you the option to create your PDF as version 1.4.
